Protective Security Detail Course (PSD)
Enables a Protective Security Detail to provide continuous 360-degree security in a hostile environment while ensuring the physical safety of the principal.
Protective Security Detail Course (PSD) training is specifically designed to develop, sustain, and enhance the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) required for effective PSD operations. Throughout this intensive seven-day training phase, teams gain the technical and tactical expertise necessary to provide 360-degree security in battlefield environments while ensuring the physical safety of their principal(s). Participants learn to plan and execute route surveys, advances, and protective actions while mastering the skills needed to react to contacts and counter threats during missions.
The course emphasizes operational-level proficiency in providing secure transit between Forward Operating Bases (FOBs), Local Operating Bases (LOBs), and other designated venues, as well as maintaining on-site security at these locations. Training also includes evacuation and return procedures. Through a combination of classroom instruction, practical exercises, and demonstration, students develop the procedural precision and situational awareness essential for success in PSD operations.
The program culminates in role-player- and patient-model-supported Situational Training Exercises (STXs) modeled after real-world scenarios, ensuring students leave with validated skills and enhanced survivability.
