High-Risk Traveler Course Level I (HRT–I)
Mitigating threats while in transit, lodging, dining, or operating in high-risk environments.

High-Risk Traveler Course Level I (HRT–I) is an intensive five-day program designed to prepare personnel for low-profile, extended-duration assignments abroad where the risks of criminal kidnapping, assault, or terrorist targeting are significant.
This demanding course integrates a multidisciplinary approach, focusing on advanced personal force protection measures essential for mission success and individual survivability. Participants develop expertise in independent and small-team operations, operational medicine, low-profile concealed carry tactics (LPCC), and escapology. Training also includes techniques for detecting, deterring, countering, and escaping abduction scenarios.
Through progressive lessons and increasingly complex scenarios, operators master critical skills for mitigating threats while in transit, lodging, dining, or operating in high-risk environments. The syllabus emphasizes practical application, leveraging lessons learned from real-world experiences to ensure operators can confidently navigate today’s high-risk global environments.
By the end of the program, participants possess advanced capabilities in force protection, enabling them to operate effectively and safely while traveling independently or in small cells in support of their mission objectives.
