Range 4

Hogan’s Alley

300-yard 270° multipurpose range

T1G logo

100 shooters. Five lanes. Mounted and dismounted. Live-fire and force-on-force.

Range 4 — Hogan’s Alley — is a 210,000 sq ft, 300-yard, 270° multipurpose range that safely hosts up to 100 shooters simultaneously. Five lanes, each with a different target configuration and different door and window shooting positions. 40 pneumatic targets with eight per lane — static and steel arrays configurable to unit requirements. Every shooting station supports prone, kneeling, standing, and movement drills. Vehicle access points allow shooting from moving and static vehicles for mounted force protection and immediate action drills.

The range is deconflicted with the adjacent 5-Story Tower and Confined Space/Collapsed Structure Trainer to support multi-discipline scenarios — sniper overwatch from the tower, ground element maneuvering through the alley, and casualty treatment integrated into the exercise. Units run Full Mission Profiles and STX scenarios including movement to contact, immediate action, break from contact, and 360° “off the X” simunitions training. Pistol through .50 caliber. The Force Protection, Tactical-Combat Marksmanship, and Advanced Marksmanship courses use this range.

  • Footprint: 210,000 sq ft, 300 yards, 270° engagement area
  • Capacity: 100 shooters simultaneously across 5 lanes
  • Targetry: 40 pneumatic targets (8 per lane) — static and steel, configurable
  • Shooting Positions: Prone, kneeling, standing, movement — door and window configurations
  • Mounted: Vehicle access for mobile fire and immediate action drills
  • Weapons: Pistol through .50 caliber, non-fragmentation practice projectiles
  • Force-on-Force: Simunitions, movable building facades, urban target vehicles
  • Integration: Deconflicted with 5-Story Tower and CS/CS Trainer

Targetry & Power Redundancy ➞ Ranges 1-4

always training | never waiting

Air Compressor System:

Five networked compressors across three locations — all five support all four ranges. If one goes down, the others pick up the load without interrupting training. Reserve storage tanks on R1 and R4 maintain operation during power transitions.

  • R1 Compressor Shed: 2 compressors (primary and secondary)
  • R3 Compressor Shed: 1 compressor
  • R4: 2 compressors

Electrical Power System:

Triple-redundant power across the range complex. Primary electrical feeds all systems. A primary backup generator kicks in automatically. A secondary backup generator provides hook-up capability for extended operations. R4 adds individual control over every lane and every target — isolate a problem without shutting down adjacent lanes. One target down doesn’t stop the course of fire.

  • Primary: Main electrical power
  • Secondary: Primary backup generator
  • Tertiary: Secondary backup generator (hook-up capability)
