Technical Urban & Rural Surveillance (TURS) prepares R&S and SR teams for clandestine surveillance operations in semi-permissive and non-permissive environments. Over five days, operators develop the technical and tactical skills to approach, access, clear, establish, and operate from urban and rural hide sites and overwatch positions. Training emphasizes real-time intelligence gathering, reporting, and dissemination to Reconnaissance Operation Centers (ROCs) and Tactical Operations Centers (TOCs). Tactical and operational security are reinforced throughout.
Operators train hide-site selection across diverse urban and rural terrain, clandestine approach techniques, position establishment and sustainment, and reporting under operational security constraints. Training runs across T1G’s urban sniper hides, MOUT complex, and surrounding terrain. Teams requiring a longer, more intensive program with a 48-hour continuous STX take Special Reconnaissance — R&S as the 12-day advanced package.
