Special Reconnaissance – Reconnaissance & Surveillance (SR-R&S) is a 12-day advanced program for experienced R&S and SR teams and their supporting headquarters elements. Training builds from foundational reconnaissance skills through advanced fieldcraft and mission-specific techniques for approaching, accessing, clearing, establishing, and operating from urban and rural hide sites and overwatch positions in high-risk environments. Real-time intelligence gathering, reporting, and dissemination to ROCs and TOCs is trained throughout. The program culminates in a 48-hour continuous situational training exercise (STX).
Teams train hide-site selection and construction, approach and withdrawal routes, communication plans, observation and reporting techniques, and sustainment operations during extended occupation. The 48-hour STX pressures every skill simultaneously — operators establish positions, gather and report intelligence, adapt to changing threat conditions, and maintain tactical and operational security under fatigue and time pressure. Training runs across T1G’s MOUT complex, urban sniper hides, and the broader 777-acre terrain.
